This was a Design Build Project upgrading the existing Main Base sub-station at Great Lakes NTC. The scope of the work included the removal of the existing 35kv 1200amp station class vacuum circuit breakers along with obsolete equipment on sub-station steel structure. Provide a new 8 bay 35kv walk in Switchgear with Schweitzer relaying. The switchgear housing was a single building measuring 18.5 ft. x 40 ft. The concrete pad for the gear was 20 ft x 41 ft x 6 ft. Also, two new 35kv pad mounted transformers for station power. The new gear and the outgoing loads were fed by new a 35kv 750mcm cable. All work was self-performed except Testing, Relay Settings and Scada Programing. Design Portion of this project completed by Bath Engineering Corp.
