This project involved converting a large portion of circuit #13 from overhead to underground distribution. The circuit feeds the central portion of the base including the control tower, flight line, fire department, and several aircraft hangers. Scheduling and phasing of the overhead to underground conversion involved weekend work and after hours work so flight operations would not be affected. Approximately two miles of new underground 15kV circuits were installed along with new manholes, 15kV switches, junction cabinets and transformers. The new 15kV system was installed, tested and energized in progressive steps and outages coordinated so that the upgrade appeared seamless to the base. As-Built drawings on the project included updating the base GIS database files.
