An 8(a) Joint Venture with Far East Construction.
In September 2004, Hurricane Ivan devastated much of NAS Pensacola. During the rebuilding of the NAS Pensacola, Webb Electric Company and its joint venture partner, Far East Construction, negotiated and were awarded a contract to upgrade the existing “non-functioning” SCADA system. The project involved the replacement of the existing SCADA system and all remote terminal units (RTUs) and associated communications systems. The new system involved installing new RTUs at many sewage lift stations not previously monitored. The new communications system is a wireless radio system operating between 406 and 420 MHz. Three UHF repeaters were installed, one at NAS Mainside, one at Corry Station, and one at Saufley Field. The master station is located at NAS Pensacola Mainside and a remote master station is installed at the water plant on Corry Station.
In our joint venture agreement, Webb Electric Company was responsible for design, installation, and testing of the new SCADA system. The SCADA monitors and controls a total of 74 RTUs for electrical substations, sewage lift stations, water towers, and the water treatment plant.
